Import substitution in endovascular surgery

In early 2018 work began in Grozny on a high-tech plant producing vital medical devices — instruments for endovascular and cardiovascular surgery. The project was carried out with the participation and active support of the Head of the Chechen Republic, Hero of Russia Ramzan Akhmatovich Kadyrov, and the Ministry of Health of the Chechen Republic.

In 2019 the Russian–Spanish joint venture RK Group LLC was officially opened. Its founder and CEO is Rajiv Kumar, an entrepreneur and investor from India. The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art quality control systems.

Two years of preparation from 2018 led to registration certificates in 2020 for the first products — coronary stents: a sirolimus-eluting stent and a cobalt-chromium stent — followed in 2021 by a certificate for coronary balloon catheters.

The plant in the Chechen Republic started the replacement of imported devices with Russian-made ones for endovascular surgery and minimally invasive procedures.

Our sirolimus-eluting stent has already been implanted in medical centres in Grozny, Nalchik, Kazan, Tyumen, Penza, Ufa, Kemerovo and Moscow.

The RK Group team led by Rajiv Kumar plans to expand production and enter new fields.
